The First Berserker: Khazan is a Hack-and-Slash Action RPG Based on the Dungeon & Fighter Universe

The First Berserker: Khazan is an upcoming high-adrenaline hack-and-slash action RPG being developed by Neople.

The player who doesn’t have enough violence, violence, and more violence, might be interested in the next project of developer Neople and Publisher Nexon (of Dave the Diver). Titled “The First Berserker: Khazan”, this action RPG has its action slider set up to 100.

This game stands out with quite a distinct anime-inspired art style. However instead of being bright and colorful, like the upcoming Visions of Mana, this one is dark, dreary, and quite “hardcore”. Overall, The First Berserker: Khazan has a cel-shaded style that most anime games adopt, but is much darker in tone. Its visuals are more muted and focus more on the black and red hues (for the color of blood).

The First Berserker: Khazan’s story is one of betrayal. The Archmage Ozma and General Khazan are both heroes who felled the mighty Berserk Dragon Hismar and his brood. However, the general is falsely accused of reason and is set as an outcast by the very land he swore to protect. He is eventually infused with ominous energies, becoming… the First Berserker.

Traditional Dungeon & Fighter games combine fast-paced action with brawling as the main forms of combat. However, The First Berserker: Khazan will lean heavily in the hack-and-slash nature of things, thanks to Khazan’s massive weapons.

Being a master general, Khazan will be able to skillfully make use of various weapons, be it dual-wielding swords, or having an axe in each hand, nothing will escape his wrath. He will use his skills to carve a bloody path toward his even bloodier revenge on those who wronged him.

It also looks like nothing will be safe from The First Berserker’s wrath. Khazan will face off against a multitude of foes, ranging from wild beasts to overpowered humans, to even what look like other fellow berserkers.

The First Berserker: Khazan is also being touted as an action RPG, and will have some RPG elements up its sleeve. The player will be able to collect various pieces of equipment to fully create their own optimized killing machine version of Khazan. The equipment you pick up will all have their unique perks that will make their collection even more rewarding.

There will also be character perks and stats to level up that will let the players customize their playstyles further.

Dungeon & Fighter games are all action RPGs that usually focus on beat-em-up gameplay instead of intense soulslike swordplay. The series is primarily developed by Neople, so they know what they are doing with The First Berserker: Khazan. It is also going to be interesting how they handle simultaneous development with their “Project Overkill” which got a trailer a little over a year ago as well as DNF Duel which is a fighting game similar to Tekken or Mortal Kombat.

The game series is somewhat known for being very over-the-top when it comes to action, so it is a welcome sight to see that present in the upcoming The First Berserker: Khazan.

The First Berserker: Khazan has been in development for quite some time now, and has undergone multiple iterations before the developers were ready to show it off. And show it off they did, as the reveal trailer was quite a looker filled with copious amounts of bloody good violence to catch the eye of even the most skeptical of action game fan.

There is currently no release date or pricing details just yet available for The First Berserker: Khazan. The game will be released on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X|S conSoles. You can wishlist the game on Steam if you wish, but the page only lists a “Coming Soon” banner.
