The First Descendant Cross-play Beta Starts August 22nd

The shooter takes a shooter looter and combines it with mystical powers. The game follows a world invaded by a faction called the Vulgus. Things get even worst when another group called the Colossi gets involved almost destroying nearly everything. Humankind had one last resolve, harnessing the powers of their Ancestors and letting them use abilities to fight back.

The title is being developed with Unreal Engine 5. Players can team up with up to four players in a group to take on bosses. The game is crossplay meaning you can team up with others no matter the platform.

In our previoushands-on impressions, we got to experience the shooter for ourselves. It reminded us of Destiny 2-type gameplay. Players have interchangeable Descendants which works similarly to Warframe. The gameplay is fast-paced, snappy gunplay and smooth fluid movement of the playable characters. Using the grappling hook lets you reach incredible heights but was a little awkward in the previous beta. Hopefully, the crossplay beta will have some updates in this area.

Players will get to experience The First Descendant with new single-player and co-op stories plus missions. There will be new characters to try out, improved grappling hooks to get around and more. There’s also the mighty giant boss raids featuring the Colossuses, where you can fight in a group of four together.

The beta will be testing its crossplay capability across all platforms. The developer has also been working on updating the UI, quality of life elements, servers, game performance, jump motion as well as audio design. The previous beta only allowed testing of three characters, but this beta teases 13 characters to try. Two never before seen characters featured in the gameplay trailer, Valby and Kyle will be among them. Each character possesses their own unique abilities that include water skills, flying or even harnessing magnetic abilities.

Speaking of audio, they have collaborated with Stephen Barton, the composer behind stellar tracks for Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Trek Picard and much more.
