The Game Awards loom ever closer as the year rounds up to a close. All nominees have been released, spread across 31 different categories.
As expected, three of this year’s biggest games got a lot of attention withThe Game Awards’ voting board. Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, andGod of War: Ragnarokall appeared on the biggest nominations, often all three of them present.
The trio has been nominated for Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Audio Design.God of Wareven appears twice in the “Best Performance” category, with both of its stars getting some recognition. Both GoW and Elden Ring also appear in the “Best Score and Music” categories.
It isn’t surprising though, as all three were excellent titles. For example, Elden Ring scored a massive9.5 in our review back in February. The game was considered FromSoftware’s “magnum opus” and thus set their own bar pretty high. Forbidden West, which came out literally a week before the Soulslike netted arespectable 8.4 in our review. The arguably biggest game at the end of the year was released just this November God of War Ragnarok and was able to secure a9 in our review.
Elden Ringappeared in a total of 8 categories, GoW in 10, and Forbidden West at 7.
Below are some of the top categories and their nominees for the year.
Winners will be selected in each category with a weighted vote, with 90% coming from a panel of judges while the remaining 10% will be taken from public votes. The voting jury will consist of over 150 different organizations and individuals scattered throughout the globe.
