The Last Faith Lets Players Unleash their Brutal Power in a New Gothic Horror Soulslike

The Last Faith reveals its high gothic horror aesthetic and brutal soulslike combat in a new minute-long action-packed gameplay trailer.

The wait is almost over for fans eagerly anticipating the release of The Last Faith the highly anticipated dark gothic metroidvania and soulslike game. Publisher Playstack and developer Kumi Souls Games have announced that The Last Faith game will be available digitally worldwide this October. It will be released on all major consoles and PC.

The latest trailer showcases the meticulously hand-crafted environments, formidable enemies, and the arsenal of unique weapons and abilities at protagonist Eryk’s disposal. We also get to see tons of the game’s dark gothic art style in a full macabre display. The stunning cinematics, depicted in a beautiful pixel art style with gothic themes, should be enough to keep you engaged as you unravel the mysteries of Eryk’s past and change the course of destiny.

Prepare for merciless and precise combat as you embark on a cursed mission in The Last Faith Step into the shoes of Eryk. He is a warrior who wakes with no memory of his past but soon discovers his deteriorating mind and conscience. Eryk’s desire for salvation sets him on a collision course with ancient religions and divinities, as he battles against time to uncover the truth.

Players will get to unleash their fury with a wide range of melee weapons, arcane spells, and other ranged firearms. They will be put into scenarios that require precise and brutal moves, forcing them to master lethal timing to take down the monstrous creatures that inhabit the corrupted world of Mythringal.

Some of the weapons include massive scythes, precise crossbows, longswords (that are actually quite long), and gigantic greatswords. Each piece of gear looks to have extremely varying playstyles, as is expected. In a pinch, Eryk can even make use of his environment if he lacks an available weapon, as he can be seen throwing a chair at some Lovecraftian horror.

The Last Faith also touts itself as a game to be placed in the soulslike genre. Whether the game has tight and responsive combat can only be felt and determined when people will actually get to play the title. However, analyzing the trailer footage already makes it look quite promising.

One of the more famous features of the soulslike genre is massive, larger-than-life boss battles. In this regard, The Last Faith does not seem to disappoint. The one-minute-long footage gave us a glimpse of some truly terrifying foes. Wailing banshees, skeletal werewolves, and other demonic monstrosities will be the least of our worries.

Customization also looks to have some depth in The Last Faith. We can see the usual RPG attributes and systems in play, as Eryk will have adjustable Vitality, Strength, Dexterity, Mind, and Instinct stats. We can also slot in two weapons on each of his hands, allowing us to quickly change the death dealer we currently have equipped on the fly. Up to 5 items can be added to our pouch for easy access.

We also have something called a “Stigma” that we can slot in, but it isn’t exactly clear what type of item this could be.

Your skills will be tested as you explore non-linear landscapes adorned with gorgeous pixel art, including snow-dusted mountains, moonlit castles, and cryptic cities.

Being a Metroidvania, The Last Faith offers a rock-solid foundation of open-ended exploration, providing players with a vast array of tools for destruction. Players will get to traverse treacherous areas and uncover hidden puzzles and traps, all while upgrading and developing their arsenal to survive the perils that lie ahead. As with most games in the genre, we can expect to backtrack and revisit various areas when we unlock new skills that allow us to traverse hidden locations.

The latest trailer not only showcases the thrilling combat but also introduces the game’s captivating setting. We get to see a glimpse of the world of Mythringal, which is a barren and unforgiving place. Players can immerse themselves in the haunting atmosphere as they encounter the menacing bosses and enigmatic characters, accompanied by an epic soundtrack that heightens the sense of immersion.

Publisher Playstack and developer Kumi Souls Games have announced that The Last Faith game will be available digitally worldwide this October on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. A limited beta will be available later this summer on Steam for those eager to experience The Last Faith before its October release.
