TheLeague of LegendsMMO restarted its development some time ago, but it has now gained significant momentum under new leadership. Riot Games’ co-founder discusses the highly anticipated project.
TheLeague of Legendsuniverse continues to expand and aims to maintain its upward trajectory by venturing into one of the most popular genres: the MMO. Riot Games is working on a massive multiplayer game set in the world of Runeterra.
We’ve heard about this project before, but not long ago, it was revealed that theLeague of LegendsMMO had faced a setback and had to restart its development. Now, the game is “gaining a lot of momentum,” according to Marc Merrill.
Merrill emphasized that this game “is the project I’ve personally spent the most time on. I believe the team now has a solid direction and is gaining strong momentum,” which has helped fans regain some optimism after a couple of years of silence.
Additionally, the Riot Games co-founder highlighted the high “expectations” surrounding a game of this type from fans and noted that the team “aims not to disappoint.” However, it seems we’ll still have to wait to see it in action.
In recent years, the Runeterra universe has expanded with projects likeSong of NunuandArcane, the popular Netflix series whose eagerly awaited second season is set to premiere soon.
For years, many fans have requested aLeague of LegendsMMO to expand the Runeterra universe, envisioning a game with an identity similar toWorld of WarcraftorThe Elder Scrolls Online.
However, a game of this scale takes time, and the project has faced several challenges. Just over a year ago, it was reported that the executive producer of theLeague of LegendsMMO had left Riot Games.
