The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Could Be The Biggest First-Party Switch Game
The sequel to Nintendo’s launch title, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom might be the biggest first-party game on the Switch.
According to recent listings of the gameThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis shaping up to be one of the largest first-party Nintendo Switch games so far. The listings on the UK Nintendo eShop now state that the game will be 18.6 GB in size. The US and Japan eShop have stated similar sizes with 18.2 GB.
If you compare the space needed to its predecessor Breath of the Wild, it’s roughly 2 GB more. But this isn’t the biggest game to come to the platform so far, that record is held by NBA 2K23 which stands at 55.8 GB. This does give a hint at how much grander the next adventure will be compared to BOTW. It was also revealed recently it will be the first game to be priced at $70 USD, but according to the publisher, this won’t be the standard across titles going forward.
Just recently Nintendo held its first showcase of the year in the Nintendo Direct which debuted a brand new trailer. This new footage showed Link traveling in a new vehicle which looks to be craftableitem. Other highlights from the video include shield surfing on rails and a new cannon weapon. This was the first look at the game since its official title was unveiled last year.
Tears of the Kingdom continues the epic journey of Link from the first title Breath of the Wild. In the prequel players used the Sheikah slate to uncover ruins and explore the land. The title had fun combat mechanics such as using bombs, craftable/degradableWeaponsand a range of differentArmor. The expansive areas also covered different climates from the frosty regions to the scalding desert. It will be interesting if these climate mechanics will return, and what new challenges will await in the next game. From the looks of recent footage Link will be flying around and heading to the skies this time around.
