Mighty Koideveloper has announcedThe Night Wanderer, a Sci-Fi and fantasy role-playing game with Soulslike elements for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
The Night Wandereris a hybrid ofRPGandSoulslikegenres, characterized by unique mechanics and an innovative approach to tried-and-true systems. The game utilizes a level design known from Metroidvania games and a combat system native to Soulsborne titles, aiming to emphasize dynamic yet strategic gameplay.
Based on the award-winning novel byJaroslaw Grzedowicz, the player assumes the role of Vuko Drakkainen, an elite soldier and mercenary embarking on a solitary mission to an unexplored alien planet. Several scientists from a previous expedition vanished on Midgaard, a planet inhabited by beings strikingly reminiscent of medieval peoples from our own Middle Ages. The planet is surrounded by a radiation field that distorts and damages all forms of advanced technology.
The game’s setting bears a strong resemblance to Earth’s Scandinavia. The planet harbors many secrets, and its mysterious forces alter everything within their reach: creatures, objects, and even people. It significantly influences the world through which Vuko travels and interacts, shaping key features of the game such as combat and character interactions. Unraveling the planet’s mysteries will surely reveal what befell the scientists he seeks.
