Publisher Perp Games has unveiled gameplay for Project Cloud Games’Action-RPGThe Relic: The First Guardian. The hack-and-slash RPG brings together a post-apocalyptic fantasy world that players can explore while encountering an “action-packed” experience. The trailer shows some of the combat which is fast paced and visceral. This is the studio’s first game under Project Cloud Games, with a team based in Korea.
Setting off on a valiant quest as the final guardian, you strive to rescue the world which has been shrouded in darkness. Arsiltus, once a thriving realm, was consumed by the abyss formed from the wreckage of the grand relic, turning it into a land of death. Your current objective is to locate the fragments of the shattered grand relic and seal the void.
Project Cloud promises in-depth gameplay, with thrilling battles to be had. Environments are interactable, which should keep things interesting. Combat shown in the footage show random encounters out in the world, so if you come back to the same place, you might meet a different scenario.
Explained in the trailer, the five-base weapons determine the overall combat, however, can be tailored to your playstyle. There are also universal skills that players can adopt no matter the weapon choice. One-handed swords and shields give your standard sword and board, protection and offensive attacks. The footage however does show the character downward slashing and even leaping into the air, being quite nimble on their feet.
Interestingly, while Longswords are slow and steady, they can be amped up with special attacks, producing a power buff which launches the player into a fast charge. If dodging is more your style, daggers show off impressive rapid attacks, with plenty of stylish flips.
For a longer range, there are battle staves, which utilise gravity magic. Slow in speed, successfully hitting a target will reduce the cooldown on the next attack. If two-handed is your preferred way to go, choose a dual-wield weapon. Slower in pace, but leaves enemies defenceless.
