The Star Wars: KOTOR Remake is Back on Track
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remakeis still in development afterSaber Interactivereceived a “significant capital investment,” which will allow them to pay off their debt toEmbracer Groupand proceed with their upcoming projects with confidence.
However, to the relief of fans awaiting this RPG, the developers have just confirmed that the project is still moving forward.
The developers,Saber Interactive, split fromEmbracer Groupearlier this year and have now confirmed that theStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remakeis still in progress, now with more strength than ever thanks to a new round of investments. This will allow them to settle their debt with Embracer Group and invest in their new projects.
Saber Interactive announced via a press release that private equity firmsAleph Capital PartnersandCrestview Partnershave made a “significant capital investment” in the company.
The amount of the investment was not disclosed, but the announcement mentioned that it will allow Saber Interactive to clear its debt with Embracer Group after the acquisition. The statement also noted thatSaber Interactivehas 13 studios worldwide, including one in Madrid.
The creators of games likeWorld War Z, SnowRunner, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, Insurgency: Sandstorm, and the recent success Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, are preparing a multitude of new projects. These includeStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jurassic Park: Survival, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, RoadCraft, and Tempest Rising.
TheKOTORremake initially started development atAspyr Media, who had previously ported several classicStar Warsgames to current consoles. However, internal issues during development led to the project being suspended indefinitely.
