The Witcher 4 Is Closer Than We Think
The Witcher 4 will be the next game from CD Projekt RED. The director of the Cyberpunk sequel, Pawel Sasko, gave details about the status of the various projects of the Polish studio, which will mark the beginning of “a new era” and is due to start production at the end of this year.
A new era begins forCD Projekt RED, the Polish studio behind theThe WitcherandCyberpunksagas. Now that the path of the futuristic RPG has ended, attention is turning to the studio’s next projects.
On one hand, a new trilogy (without Geralt of Rivia) will continue theThe Witcher franchise, almost ten years after the release of the last installment in the saga.
The Witcher 4, nicknamedProject Polaris, will be the next game fromCD Projektand the first to mark the beginning of the trilogy. But watch out, because there are more games in the saga on the way.
We haveProject Canis Majoris, a powerful remake of the firstThe Witcherwith Unreal Engine 5, but also a multiplayer spin-off (Project Sirius), which is being developed by The Molasses Flood.
Additionally,Cyberpunk 2077will have a sequel, codenamedProject Orion. Its director is Pawel Sasko, mission director for Phantom Liberty.
In a new episode of the Flow Games podcast, Sasko updated the status of the differentCD Projekt projects, among which is also the new IP Hadar. Pawel Sasko gave one piece of good news… and two not-so-good ones, considering many of us are eager to try CD Projekt’s new games.
Let’s start with the good news. The Witcher 4, the start of the new saga trilogy, will be the studio’s next game. Sasko acknowledges that it is the most “advanced” project.
“The only difference is Project Polaris, that is, the new Witcher saga, which will go into production at the end of the year. It is the most advanced of all.”
Both projects are in their early stages, which means they will not arrive in the short-to-medium term. It is most likely that we will see them at the end of the current generation. Regarding Project Sirius, we only know that part of the team responsible is also working onCyberpunk 2, from CD Projekt’s new studio in Boston.
What will The Witcher 4 be like? Maybe we won’t have to wait too long to find out. Until then, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the latest installment in the saga, available in its next-gen versions for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on Nintendo Switch (Complete Edition), PS4, and Xbox One.
