Moonlighter is a fantasy roguelike RPG developed by Digital Sun Games, an indie Spanish studio. It takes place in a remote merchant town where the protagonist, Will, runs a store. He wants to be a hero, but to make the dream come true, he has to gather gear and master a variety of abilities first. The game combines elements of a roguelike RPG and a trading card game. The gameplay sends you on night journeys to dungeons where you will face challenging enemies and gathers valuable items and skills that bring him closer to achieving his goal. During the day, you have to manage and develop the hero’s store, improve our knowledge of the wares we sell, and make increasingly bigger profits.

Crawl is a roguelike hack’n’slash game featuring pixel-art visuals. It was designed specifically for local multiplayer and developed by Powerhoof and is now making its debut on consoles. In the game, heroes exploring dungeons encounter monsters defending the place against delvers like you. Up to four players can play and one of them takes the role of the hero traversing dungeons filled with threats. The remaining players control the monsters, who will prepare traps and obstacles in order to make it more difficult for the hero. The game resembles classic roguelike RPGs, where the player gathers parts of equipment scattered throughout dungeons and levels up gradually. When the hero dies, the players swap their roles, but the new hero keeps both the items and experience gathered by the player who was previously in control. Once the hero has reached level 10, they go through a mysterious portal and the final boss fight begins.

Centuries ago the world was torn to pieces, and your mission is to merge the pieces back together. You create your character, choosing from three available professions, and head out to explore the world, complete quests and defeat foes. Portal Knights features an extensive crafting system, which lets you collect various raw materials and use them to create a variety of items, including buildings. The game’s character progression system features a bevy of skills and equipment, that allows the characters to be customized to fit your playstyle preferences.

Developed by Relic Entertainment, Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II is the third installment of the real-time strategy series set in a dark future world set in the popular universe created by Games Workshop. You will lead one of three races: Space Marines, Eldars, and Orks. Each has unique heroes, units, buildings, and abilities. The game takes the popular elements of the series’ history and focuses on massive battles waged on vast maps with hundreds of units. The game features RPG elements, such as customization of units and heroes that can be provided with special equipment and abilities as you increase your gained experience. Fans of this rich universe will lose themselves in this one.

Emergence

Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.

Dawn of War 3 has a release date now? Awesome!~

Portal knights looks interesting. I love sandbox style games, and enjoy pixel/basic geometry artstyles, but Minecraft’s was just too simple for me given when it was made. This looks way better, and RPG characteristics sounds like it will make it an even more engaging and immersive experience.

Additionally, Persona 5 is coming out in early April. It will go onto my wish list as I’ll still be playing Torment: Tides of Numenera. Just got to the Valley of Dead Heroes, so I know I’ve got a long ways to go!! I’m loving the game!!! I’m playing on PS4, & would like to warn people ahead – the only serious glitch I’ve run into is something I call “running backwards”. What happens is if you try to transfer an item to another party member, it disappears. Further, if you try to sell items, they stay in your inventory but reduce the amount of money you have by whatever their value is. The only fix I’ve found is to start from an earlier save. So keep a ton of saves slots!!!
