Top 5 Upcoming RPGS of 2017: December

Nov. 27, 2017

As its title suggests, this Final Fantasy XV DLC stars the brains and cook among Noctis and friends,Ignis Scientia. “Episode Ignis” is an all-new story-line taking place after the “Trial of Leviathan” quest of Chapter 9 in the game, and recounts Ignis’s struggle in Altissia during Noctis’s absence. Players will be able to control Ignis and wield his special Spelldaggers, in addition to his “Total Clarity” ability, which enables him to attack multiple targets simultaneously.

Also featured in this expansion is Ravus, an antagonist from FFXV and Lunafreya’s brother (who teams up with Ignis), as well as music from composer Yasunori Mitsuda ofChrono Triggerfame. This final story expansion looks to be a thrilling one and we can’t wait to get on hands on Ignis’s kit.

Unfortunately, this re-release will not include any of the previously released DLCs, at least not initially, and will not include support for mods as well, since VR titles are a little more susceptible to breaking when tinkered with than regular PC titles. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to explore the vast post-apocalyptic nuclear wastelands ofFallout 4with VR. One can only hope the graphics are better than that of Skyrim VR, or else players might be very disappointed…

Although we had this game on our list last month, as it was hinted by the developers it would be released then, we finally have a concrete date for Deck 13’s first major DLC forThe Surge. “A Walk in the Park” will come this December 5th and its looks to be a real fun treat, as the content’s premise brings us to the wonderland of the CREO World amusement park.

Filled with new enemy types in the form of lethal mascots, deranged A.I. and workers; as well as a plethora of 16 all-new weapons, gear, upgrades and implants. Since this DLC can be accessed at the beginning of the game, it would stand that players will be able to use this new equipment for much of the game, in the same vein as Bloodborne did with The Old Hunters. Also, rumor has it that “A Walk in the Park” may feature the iconic Ironmaus as a boss, which is both exciting and terrifying.

From Grinding Gear Games comes the “War for the Atlas“, the seventh expansion to their action-RPG,Path of Exile.Path of Exileis a free-to-play online game set in a Dark Fantasy universe. It features a robust and franticDiablo-esque gameplay with an in-depth character customization, an item economy, a competitive PvP and more, making it one of the most popular hack and slash RPGs to date.

This expansion introduces 10 new Gems including 4 new Skill Gems and 6 new Supports. The new skills have a focus on necromancy, while the support gems are designed to augment as many skills as possible in new and interesting ways. War for the Atlas adds 32 maps to Path of Exile’s ever-evolving end-game and as you fight in maps the Shaper or Elder control, you may find rare Shaped and Elder items which can be crafted to have powerful properties that don’t normally occur. War for the Atlas also contains over fifty new Unique Items, many of which have been designed by the community itself.

As the giant beasts march toward death, the last hope is a scavenger named Rex—and Pyra, a living weapon known as a Blade. Can you find the fabled paradise she calls home? Command a group of Blades and lead them to countless strategic victories before the world ends.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2also features a dynamic open-world design, where players can seamlessly traverse the interconnected environments, in addition to a day-and-night time cycle that has an effect on enemies, events, quests, and item availability. This dynamic system should encourage replayability as well as longevity for the fans of the series and new players alike.

And finally, a much-anticipated game,Seven: The Days Long Gone.It is from the minds of the newly formed studio, Fool’s Theory, whose members comprise of former members of theWitcherseries development team.Sevenis inspired by games such asThieffor its stealth elements, while merging the classic isometric gameplay ofDiablo.

The world of Seven is inhabited by a diverse society that won’t always remain indifferent to your presence, so getting on peoples’ good side is not a bad idea. Life is tough in Peh, and a few well-chosen friends and allies can mean the difference between pay-dirt and a dirt nap.

Magic exists in the world of Seven, and while there’s no room for logical explanations of some of its phenomena, it’s definitely something you’ll have to deal with. But although it’s a common feature of everyday life, the way people access it and react to it can vary. Of course, simple farmers and labourers understand it differently than academics and scholars, but it must be said that the mage’s path is not for everyone.

Seven introduces an innovative parkour-like traversal system that lets you climb, run and jump with absolute freedom, in ways we see withAssassin’s Creed. And sees players take hold of a master thief and be able to complete objectives in anyway they see fit through the use of stealth, traps, disguises, cunning and more. All set in a freely exploration sandbox of the post-apocalyptic world of theVetrallEmpire.Seven’sunique traversal mechanics and stealth elements is a genuinely refreshing take on the isometric CRPG genre and its a game worth looking forward to, especially at the price of 29.99$ USD.
