CD Projekt Red uncovered this week one of the projects they are working on. Previously revealing some of the code names for projects their working they have now announced that Canis Majoris is actually the code name for the Witcher Remake.

CDPR announced in a blog post on their official website that the Witcher Remake is being worked on. Just like the previously confirmedUntitled Witcher Sequel, the Remake is also being built from scratch using Unreal Engine 5.

Witcher Remake’s announcement also surprisingly included that CD Projekt Red will not be the main developer. Instead, they are partnering up with fellow Polish studio Fool’s Theory. This relatively smaller company is actually comprised of some ex-Witcher developers. It seems like the remake is in good hands, as they already have experience in the lore, the setting, the world, and what magic makes the Witcher series special.

The developer Bioware has shared over on their blog that the game has completed its alpha milestone. Dreadwolf can now be played from its “opening scenes of the first mission to the very end”.

While this doesn’t mean the game is finished, as there is still a lot left to do, it’s still cause for celebration that the development of the game is making major progress. The next steps include improving visual fidelity, gameplay features and evaluation key elements such as player progression as well as narrative cohesion.

Bioware has previously shared that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be asingle-playerfocused game with party-based combat set in Tevinter. No release window has been announced but we’ll keep you updated with any updates.
