Ubisoft Invests in Biomorph – New Indie Metroidvania
Ubisoft announced that it has made an investment with Lucid Dreams Studio for their upcoming Metroidvania game, Biomorph.
The developer and publisher responsible for recently releasing games such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and Skull and Bones has just announced their investment was for end-of-development financing, as they “recognized the talent, scope, and diversity” of the developer. The company isn’t taking on any publishing duties, leaving that to Lucid Dreams Studios themselves.
Additionally, on their official X/Twitter account, they hinted that the reasons for the delayed release would be to avoid competing with a major title like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which will likely have all the spotlight during the month of March.
We’ve given it a lot of thought and came to the conclusion that changing our release date is the best thing for BIOMORPH.So we decided to push it back to April 5th!This lets us do two things: polish the game to perfection and release in a less crowded window cough cough FFVII…pic.twitter.com/6eX0c8Tchy
Biomorph is a captivating 2D hand-drawn Metroidvania adventure. Throughout the dark crusade, enemies are not simply defeated. Their powers are absorbed, allowing players to evolve into a formidable force. Each defeated creature triggers a transformation, granting new abilities for combat and exploration.
Biomorph will be available on Steam on April 5. It also has a demo available to try out while you’re waiting.
