Upcoming Games You Can Share With Your Kids
Are you in the mood for some family fun? Want to play games that have a retro feel or are an open sandbox? Do you wish one of your favorite sandbox games had a story? Or do you want to see something new? Well then here is a brief list of new or upcoming games that should entertain both gamers and their kids!
The game is currently in early release and is due for a full release come the summer. The game is a sandbox style open world that combines elements of Minecraft and Spore. If you are wondering how Lego would handle a Virtual world to play in then you are in luck with Lego Worlds. Not only do you get to play on a single world but you get the chance to fill a whole Lego Galaxy. You are given your choice of Lego people to play as, many of which have to be found or unlocked in game. You can build to your hearts desire, from cities to cars to forests using any bricks that you find in your world. If you do not wish to take the time to construct a town yourself you can choose from a number of prerendered structures to build. There are also buildable weapons and as well as Lego creatures to fend off with the weapons. There are an assortment of Lego vehicles that can be built and sets that can be found even blueprints to build these sets and items listed prior. With the ambitious break in to a Minecraft dominated market, will the allure of Lego Worlds feel unique? Here’s to hoping they add skins of the various Lego themed games they have had over the years, such as DC and Marvel heroes, as well as Harry Potter and Lord Of the Rings, or Jurassic World.
Do you love Minecraft? Are you bored of just aimlessly wandering and getting lost in the Nether? Well here is a twist for you, Mojang developed a fully voiced episodic story mode for Minecraft where you play as a hero Jesse. In Minecraft Story Mode you get to control Jesse and see semi structured story cut scenes where the player can choose certain choices Jesse makes. It is a Virtual Choose your Adventure in Minecraft, with branching dialogue trees and quick time events. Currently only one episode is released with four more to come. What path will you send our hero Jessi down?
Did you love playing Megaman? If so we have a new game by the very creator of Megaman called Mighty No. 9. This was a Kickstarter backed game that is releasing this February. The game is mentioned to be a spiritual successor of the Megaman series and has a lot of similar themes. The style of the game is a platformer adventure, the main character Beck can run, jump, and shoot his enemies and like Megaman before him can absorb the powers of defeated bosses. So if you have been hankering for a game like Megaman with the same quality story, then look no further.
Are you in the mood for an ambitious new game? How about an Open world Sandbox? Ever wonder what Minecraft would have been like if it was ruled by a totalitarian communist? Well this game touches upon the after effects of that and an attempt to rebuild the world after such a government went horribly wrong. This game is currently in beta testing, you start off as a Proletariate Projection Clone that is customizable to your liking and earn a single ration coupon. The interesting part is that all human survivors seem to have a single melded mind. With your hive minded characters you must collaboratively restore the world that is in danger of collapsing into the void. It is up to you to rescue your Brethren from this void. Exploration and crafting are essential to rebuilding and finding islands to gather resources is a must. You will be charged with rebuilding towns and defending them from monsters called the Izverg. Beware of these Giant Izverg as they will destroy your progress, so be on the ready. There will be occasional projection clones of other players, their actions will affect others towns resource acquisition and improvement can even spillover to other players worlds. So the more you restore the more you help your fellow gamers.
This is just a brief list of games you and your kids can share and thoroughly enjoy together! It’s not always easy balancing hardcore gaming urges with the time and age appropriate constraints of family but there is a lot of quality content out there that meets the criteria. Are you hyped yet?

Been a Gamer since I could hold an Atari joystick. A game worshipper who has enjoyed and analyzed a many Games. Always wanting more of the games I love.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Unfortunately, My kids don’t play Wii U, so most upcoming kids games I look for are on PC and PS4. They grew up watching me play on the ps and have deleted a number of games on me that I had to speed run through when they were little.
My daughter and I have been thoroughly enjoying Yoshi’s Wooly World on the Wii U. For Reference, she is about to turn 13 and she has been gaming since she was 3. The game’s art direction is extremely captivating and the gameplay is incredibly solid. The levels are easy enough for just about anyone to conquer, but the secrets and collectibles make it a challenge for any platform hero. By far, the most fun I’ve had playing a Nintendo game in a long time. I Highly recommend it.
Thanks for pointing these out. There are a fair few little kids in my family and many of them are interested in gaming. I’ll be sure to recommend these to their parents.
