Wild Hearts Examines Endgame Volatile Kemono Plus PC Performance Updates

Wild Hearts takes a peek at its endgame system, plus acknowledgment that performance enhancements are on the way.

The team at Omega Force is hard at work perfecting their own monster hunter (sorry,Kemono-slayer) styled game. Subscribers to EA Play have been able to get their hands on a 10-hour demo of the game’s first major area. So far, the reception to the game’s actual mechanics is positive. The unique spin thatKarakuribrings to the table plus the elaborate and satisfying weapons seem to be the community’s top highlights.

However, we do know that in these style of games, beating the final boss is only the beginning. The true game comes after that. And with that, the team detailed a blog post about their plans for the real journey ahead.

Afterpreventing an apocalyptic eventfrom occurring, our hero can’t hang up their Bladed Wagasas just yet. The Celestial Threads used to power our Karakuri, as well as the very land itself, are still causing issues all around. Some of the massive Kemono beasts have absorbed too much of this energy, bloating their powers even more.

The influx of energy has caused theseKemonoto become volatile. Enter the “Volatile Kemono”, which are more dangerous versions of the beasts that we’ve already faced. But with greater challenge comes greater rewards. Aside from the usual crafting materials to make your fancy new hat, Volatile Kemono will drop a new item: Keystones.

Once players have enough Keystones, they can open the way to even more powerful beasts, the “Deeply Volatile Kemono”. Truly, madly, deeply dangerous, these versions of the monsters will be the penultimate challenge available to the player base.

Taking down these Deeply Volatile Kemono will be like standing with you on a mountain. It will be an uphill battle, especially for solo players. However, you can bathe in the sea of rewards as these bosses will drop the strongest Talismans in the game. These talismans confer extremely powerful passive abilities or stat increases and should be the end goal for any aspiring hunter.

Omega Force has already mentioned that their planned future DLC and updates will be free, thanks to theirReddit AMA a few weeks back. However, they now confirm that the game won’t lay like this forever, as the next content drop will be coming sometime in March.

The Hellfire Laharback will be introduced as the next Deeply Volatile Kemono. With that, the Kemono will bring new talismans, quests, emotes, and more. He will even bring along a new Kemono friend, the Grimstalker, which is a dark version of the Deathstalker that players faced off against in the tutorial. The Grimstalker will even have weapons and armor themed after him, so be sure to look out for that.

One of the biggest concerns players had with the Wild Hearts demo was the inconsistent performance. Some PC players struggled to maintain a smooth 60 fps despite the graphical settings (myself included). Others had massive stuttering or otherwise blurry graphics due to the game’s upscaling methods. Even some console players have been affected, particularly the Xbox Series S.

The team at Omega Force has acknowledged the problem in a recent Reddit post. There, they have identified that PC players are suffering from a CPU bottleneck that is affecting performance despite setting the in-game graphics to low. A patch to fix this will improve frames across the board and is expected to drop next week. Don’t worry as they have also acknowledged enhancements will come to console players as well.

Additionally, the developers are working on adding DLSS and FSR to Wild Hearts. This will definitely improve performance for players who choose to use these upscaling methods.

Anyone encountering performance problems can submit their DXDIAG reports to Omega Force’s official support team for further investigation.
