Wild Hearts Update Adds New “Alpha Sapscourge” Kemono this May
The developers over at Omega Force have not stopped in their regular updates for Wild Hearts. This month, we get to face off against the alpha version of the humble Sapscourge. As with other updates, we will also get new weapons, armor, quests, and limit break options. The game also gets some fixes and additions on the technical side as well.
The fictional land of Wild Hearts had us face off against amagical pink foxcalled the Murakamo last April. Now we will be fighting an even angrier version of the Sapscourge. The basic version of this monster creates sticky areas from its, well, sap. Hunters must be sure to avoid these pesky hazards as stepping on them could spell our demise.
On the other hand, the Alpha variants are much angrier and meaner. Instead of simple sap, it looks like their arms and legs flow with even more celestial energy. Hopefully, the Alpha Sapscourge’s weak spot will still be its tail, just like its lesser brethren. Facing off this alpha variant will require players to complete the prerequisite quest, “Alpha Amber Rogue”.
This Wild Hearts update also introduces a new activity type called “Trial Quests”. These endeavors will send hunters to seek outKemonobut will be equipped with predefined weapons, skills, and armor. Players will need to become the ultimate hunter by adapting to playstyles that they may not be skillful in. On the bright side, it allows fans to try out different kinds of builds that they may have otherwise ignored due to a lack of upgrade materials. Trial Quests have been placed in between Chapter 4 and Chapter 5.
The Core Orb item just got even more important in this Wild Hearts update. First off, weapons and armor can now be upgraded even further using these Core Orbs. Previously, we could Limit Break the Attack and Defense values. Thanks to the May update, Attribute Power and Resilience can also be enhanced.
Hunters can also customize the Inherent Skills in their weapons. They can choose to re-roll the Inherent Skills entirely, replacing those embedded with totally new ones. The newly generated Inherent Abilities are random, but will not contain those that are currently on the item. Additionally, weapons can have the potential to receive a Third Inherent skill. The only downside to this is that the third skill will be much weaker than the first two, for balancing reasons.
The Wild Hearts May Update also adds a ton of technical improvements to the game. We see that the PC platform in particular got some special attention. Headlining the patch is the much-awaited addition of NVIDIA DLSS. The AI-driven upscaling technology will have “DLSS” and “DLSS Quality” options available to players. It isn’t quite clear though what the “DLSS” option is, though it should be safe to assume something like aperformancemode.
This should definitely lighten the GPU load on cards that support DLSS. As expected, only cards that actually have DLSS can make use of this feature. A handy new “VRAM” usage indicator also lights up depending on certain graphics options players choose. Computers that are running specs below the minimum system requirements will also get a fancy new warning that the game might not run smoothly at all.
People will also be getting some much-appreciated accessibility options when it comes to text. Subtitles can be customized in terms of text and background color. Text size across the board can also be adjusted, including subtitles, tutorials, action guides, acquisition logs, and chat logs. We can also decide whether we want backgrounds on text, as well as how transparent they can get.
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to May’s Wild Hearts update. We get a whole laundry list of changes in the game’s patch notes. Other highlights include the fact that we can cook 3 pieces of food with the same effects at the Smokerkarakuri. Hunters can also sell multiple items when selling their trinkets to merchants. Basic Karakuri are also saved as part of a character’s loadout. We also get more quests related to VOlatile Kemono starting from Chapter 3 onwards.
