Wuthering Waves Registration for Second Closed Beta Announced
The second closed beta for the post-apocalyptic set Action-RPG Wuthering Waves now has registration open.
Kuro Games has announced sign-ups are now available for the second closed beta of theAction-RPGWuthering Waves. The game is playable on platforms PC, iOS and Android. If you want a chance to take part in the beta, the deadline for registration is February 7th ending at 2:00 a.m. PT / 5:00 a.m. ET. The schedule for the commencement and conclusion of the test will be disclosed in due course.
There are a few requirements in order to qualify for the beta and that includes signing up using the recruitment questionnaire and participating in official social media events.
Players should note that no data will be saved by the end of the beta, so any progress will be reset and no microtransactions will be available during the test. The game has supported languages for English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The game in its final form will have voiceovers but they won’t be present in the current beta.
The questionnaire does ask a number of questions about gaming habits (which is to be expected) but interestingly also refers to a number of soulslike or Action-RPGs you’ve played most. This list includes major titles such asLies of P,NieR: Automata, Witcher 3,Elden Ringand more. While some games do hold comparisons to a fast-paced combat game, it’s interesting to see what types of games are on this list for contrasts and similarities.
A new trailer teasing the second closed beta gives a small intro to what the game is about. It shows a beautiful galaxy-laden sky as the backdrop to a glimmering lake. Other environments shown, preview a character running through towns, fields with a giant dream-like tree and open spaces not too dissimilar fromGenshin Impact‘s world. You can also glide over taking things airborne.
Also previewed are some of the characters to collect and enemies to face. The combat is fast-paced, slightly aerial and characters use an array of swords and other melee weapons. But it looks like grappling isn’t the only way to get around, a brief snippet shows a motorbike-type vehicle which reminds me of another free-to-play title’s mounts,Tower of Fantasy.
While Wuthering Waves has a different setting to Genshin’s, you can’t help but wonder if Wuthering will make waves with its eventual launch. One thing it does to set it apart from other PC/mobile hybrids is its Echo System. It allows you to absorb the enemy’s powers and use them to your own advantage. Players can collect Resonance power from monsters through the Wutrelic System and attract more monsters in turn. Its Pokemon-esque bestiary does sound intriguing.
Another unique feature is the Concerto Effect. When a character sets off a series of abilities Concerto Energy charges, once it becomes full players can switch to another character mid-combo. This certainly shakes up combat making it more fluid. You can check out morecombat detailshere.
