Wuthering Waves Yinlin Build Guide

In thisWuthering Waves Yinlin Build Guide,we’re going to be covering a support build, for Yinlin. This build focuses on buffing both the Electro damage and Resonance Liberation damage of main damage dealers. As well as dealing high damage on her own, from on-field and off-field.

Yinlin is the second Limited Five Star character, released in the second half of version 1.0 after Jiyan. She’s an Electro Rectifier user, that specialize in Ranged attacks, AOE, skill damage, coordinated attacks, and buffing. Her kit is really stacked with utility, she even stuns enemies for a brief moment while performing her combo. This allows Yinlin to slot into any team, not just Electro teams.

The best part about Yinlin is how she works like a one-size-fits-all. If you have her, she may substitute for any support in any team. She would just do damage from off-field, and raise team DPS to compensate for losing any buffs on main carry.

Yinlin can quickly charge her concerto energy, so she doesn’t take a long time to activate her Outro skill. This results in shorter rotation, and more on-field time for your main DPS. Meanwhile, Yinlin still performs coordinated attacks with your main carry. She makes team building so easy. Yinlin will fit in teams with a lot of future characters, due to her synergistic kit.

On top of that, Yinlin could build her Echo sets as either a support buffer or a damage dealer, adding more flexibility. And she deals AOE damage, hitting almost all enemy targets. This AOE still hits all enemies marked with Yinlin’s “Punishment Mark”, even if the main DPS character is hitting a single target. So she’s also an enabler for Single Target main damage dealers, to fight against AOE content.

A lot can be said about how the Basic Attack affects Yinlin’s build. Even though it’s merely a small portion of her damage, Normal attacks represent a core part of her kit. So we use it, but it’s not a level-up priority.

Without activatingResonance Skill,Yinlinuses a four-hit, ranged Normal Attack string that deals little damage in AOE. After activatingResonance Skill, these normal attacks trigger additional attacks that count as and scale withResonance Skilllevel. This is the main source ofYinlin‘s damage while on-field.

It’s also the main mechanic to charge bothConcerto energyandForte barcharges, which are very important parts of her kit.

Heavy Attackhas two versions as well. A standardHeavy Attackwith theForte barnot full, which helps charge theForte bar, and aHeavy Attack “Chameleon Cipher”that consumesForte barcharges and deals massive AOE, activatingYinlin‘s off-field DPS. The standardHeavy Attackscales with Basic Attack level, whileHeavy Attack “Chameleon Cipher”scales withForte Circuitlevel. Both count asHeavy Attackin damage calculations.

TheResonance skillis a core part ofYinlin‘s kit, featuring two phases. When you cast the skill for the first time, it causesYinlinto enter “Execution Mode.” This mode enables 4 Normal Attacks to trigger additional “Electromagnetic Blast” hits on all enemy targets marked byYinlin‘sForte skill. This essentially allowsYinlinto have her Normal Attacks proc AOE hits for 10 seconds or 4 hits, whichever happens first. The skill has a 12-second cooldown that starts counting after the first cast.

The additional damage from “Electromagnetic Blast” hits is consideredResonance Skilldamage and scales withResonance Skilllevel. It hits all enemies marked by “Sinner’s Mark,” which is applied by using Normal Attacks,Intro, andResonance Liberation. So Normal Attacks will apply them and proc the additional hits at the same time. “Electromagnetic Blast” will hit marked enemies even if they move out of the range of Normal Attacks, making it very useful against mobile and ranged enemies who tend to escape your AOE.

The next cast of Resonance Skill (Within a few seconds of the first cast, and without switching out) is called “Lightning Execution”. This second cast deals more damage, hits more times, and puts the skill on cooldown. Note this second skill doesn’t end “Execution mode“, so you don’t have to use normal attacks in between the two skill casts.

Therefore, the ideal combo of skill and normal attacks while Yinlin is on-field is:

The entirety of Yinlin’s rotation on the field is there to build both Concerto Energy and Forte bar. Skill1 recovers 10 Concerto energy, skill2 recovers 15 Concerto energy, and each Electromagnetic Blast recovers 5 Concerto energy. So a typical combo recovers 50 Concerto energy, plus the standard recovery of normal attacks. If you cast Resonance Liberation for another 20 Concerto Energy, Yinlin’s Concerto bar will be full.

This lets Yinlin perform her rotation and swap out quickly, with an Outro skill.

Yinlin casts lightning strikes that hit seven times in a massive AOE, dealing good damage. The numerical value of Resonance Liberation is around half ofHavoc Rover’sResonance Liberation. Which is decent, but nothing game breaking. It also locksYinlin in a long animation that player can’t cancel.

Resonance Liberationhelps charge bothForte barandConcerto energy. So building enough Energy Recharge to useResonance Liberationis crucial for smooth rotations.Yinlinhas a small cost of 125Resonance Energy, so she doesn’t need a full Energy Recharge stat on every slot to build herResonance Liberation.

The best time to useResonance Liberationis to cancel one ofYinlin‘s longer animations, such as herHeavy Attack “Chameleon Cipher”performed with a fullForte bar, or to cancel her Normal Attacks after the second normal, avoiding the longer animation of the third and fourth attacks. Beware, though, of canceling the skill casts, as it might stop the skill from hitting and waste the cooldown entirely.

Yinlin Forte bar has 100 charges to build, which Wuthering Waves call“Judgment points”. It’s tied to two different ‘marks’ Yinlin applies. Sinner’s Mark, which she applies exclusively with normal attacks, Intro, and Resonance Liberation. And“Punishment Mark”, which comes from heavy attack while Forte bar is full, and comes only from hitting targets already marked withSinner’s Mark.

Make sure to use normal attacks before usingChameleon Cipher, to get all enemies marked. Because“Punishment Mark”doesn’t apply to enemies who are not marked with theSinner’s Markand Resonance skill doesn’t applySinner’s Mark.

Charging Forte bar requires only doing the typical combo of Intro, two skills, four normal attacks, and Resonance Liberation. If part of this combo doesn’t hit, or something goes wrong, then you might need one or two heavy attacks to fill the last bit of Forte bar.

Unleashing theChameleon Cipherneeds a heavy attack while the bar is full. It locks Yinlin into a long animation that can be canceled by swapping out using Outro. This enables both Yinlin and the new character to be on the field briefly, each performing their own skill.

Sinner’s Markhas a 10-second duration, and enables Yinlin to perform four “Electromagnetic Blast” hits with four normal attacks. And “Punishment Mark” has an 18-second duration, and enables Yinlin to performJudgment Strikewhen a marked enemy gets hit.Judgment Strikescale with skill damage, can hit from off-field, and has a 1-second cooldown.Judgement Strikescale with Forte skill level, and Resonance skill modifiers but not levels.

A buff of15%Crit Rate for5seconds after using skill1. This buff is short, and not useful on most of Yinlin’s damage that occurs off-field. But it’s useful to get a boost in her burst DPS, such as Resonance Liberation, Skill 2, andChameleon Cipher.

When hitting an enemy marked with“Sinner’s Mark”, increases the damage of skill 2 by 10%, and gains a 10% ATK buff for 4 seconds. This is useful while Yinlin is on the field, for Sinner’s Mark disappears after the switch, and converts to“Punishment Mark”after usingChameleon Cipher.

Intro and Outro skills need fully charged Concerto energy to cast. They are important to trigger certain Echo Sets bonuses and weapons, And in the case of our Wuthering Waves Yinlin Build, buffing the next character with Outro.

The Intro deals small damage 10x times, recovers Concerto energy, and applies Sinner’s Mark. This is a very useful Intro, if only for utility not damage. We don’t give priority to leveling Intro, but using it helps a lot.

Yinlin gives a damage modifier to both Electro DMG and Resonance Liberation DMG to the next character.

The only two characters who fully utilize Yinlin buff currently in Wuthering Waves areCalcharoand Yuanwu. Since they are the only Electro DPS characters we have access to. Yet, there are more characters who benefit from the Resonance Liberation part of the buff.

Characters such as Havoc Rover fits well with Yinlin due to this buff and burst style Rover can play.

For this Wuthering Waves Yinlin Build, gear is a crucial part, and Weapon is a major part of gearing. Yinlin DPS scales with standard Crit, Attack, and Electro damage stats. However, building enough Energy Recharge comes as a high priority.

If she gets enough energy from Echoes, Yinlin is free to use proper DPS weapon. Yinlin uses Rectifier, which has a smaller pool of DPS options.

With % ATK sub stat, and another % ATK bonus upon using Intro, this weapon is a base free-to-play DPS weapon for Yinlin. It’s suitable for early games, before getting any proper weapon, as long as you refine the weapon to S5 using dupes.

The upgrade from three-star weapons isRectifier#25, which is a craftable four-star, with the potential to get to S5 eventually. The weapon comes with a higher base ATK and Energy Recharge sub-stat. The energy Recharge is nice to smooth out Yinlin’s rotation and reduce her time on the field. Casting Resonance Liberation early mean she also charges her Concerto Energy faster and cast Outro earlier.

The passive comes with an ATK bonus if the user has over 60% HP when casting Resonance Skill. If HP is lower, it heals the user instead. And with a character such as Yinlin, who doesn’t take a lot of field time, she’s less likely to lose HP. So the ATK bonus has good uptime.

The weapon is free and saves Yinlin from using a lot of Energy Recharge stats on Echoes. So player can use offensive stats instead, which work as an indirect buff to her DPS.

Another Four-Star that comes from Gacha, so it has the potential to get to higher refinement but over a longer period of time. It’s the most suitable four-star to use if your Yinlin Energy requirements are met. As it lacks any Energy Recharge stats.

It has a higher base ATK stat, very good amount of % ATK on sub stat, and the weapon passive is also a % ATK bonus. It lasts 15 seconds upon using the Intro skill, so it has very good uptime.

Beware of the conflict of interest if your main DPS uses the Rectifier, such as Encore. As in most cases, giving Jinzhou Keeper to the main DPS, and giving Energy weapon to Yinlin is better.

The standard five-star Rectifier weapon, which players can pick from the Five-Star weapon selector at Union level 45. Usually, Rectifier is not the best five-star weapon to pick from selector, since Sword is better. However, in case the player gets the sword earlier from Standard weapon pulls, then you may pick Rectifier next.

The weapon comes with the highest base ATK, highest % ATK sub stat, and small Energy Recharge from passive. Then it stacks normal attack DMG bonus, which is not the main focus of Yinlin DPS. So it’s more like a stat stick for Yinlin.

Similar to Relics fromHonkai Star Rail, and Artifacts fromGenshin Impact, Echoes in Wuthering Waves Yinlin Build works as gear. We have five slots to equip echoes, but the difference is, that we are not restricted to using certain echoes in certain slots.

In total, characters have 12 points to distribute among Echoes. Meanwhile, Echoes has three grades, Common (1 cost), Elite (3 cost), and Boss/Overlord (4 cost). So the ideal distribution in endgame is (4,3,3,1,1). However, in certain situations, some other setup is possible. Such as getting more Crit stats from the (4,4,1,1,1) setup. Electro Set has two bosses with 4 costs, so (4,4,1,1,1) is possible. Especially if you pair Yinlin withCalcharowho uses the best3Cost pieces with Electro DMG.

In this Wuthering Waves Yinlin Build we aim to get these DPS main stats:

Yinlin Energy Recharge requirement is not huge and can be met with weapons and/or sub-stats. If she still lacks both, a main Energy Recharge stat on 3 cost is feasible. Otherwise, go all out for DPS stats.

For sub stats, get Energy Recharge, Crit, ATK, and Resonance Skill DMG. Resonance Liberation DMG is also decent but comes as a bit lower priority.

On top of providing main and sub-stats, each Echo provide a skill that can be used in battle. Only one skill can be acquired this way, and it comes from the top Echo on the Echoes page. Yinlin may use either an Electro set, or an Energy set. So she has several options for her Echo skill.

Either go withImpermanenceHeron on Energy Set, the standard support Echo that gives a damage bonus to the next character. But also help charge energy for Yinlin herself. Or go for one of the Echo skills in Electro Set, which are,Tempest Mephis,Thundering Mephis, orFlautist.

The problem with the bosses in the Electro set is the long time they take to cast their Echo skill. they take from main DPS field time, and in some cases, reduce team DPS overall. So the solution is using the alternative Elite Echo skill, Flautist. It takes less than a second to cast and deals some good damage.

If you still using boss Echo skill,Tempest Mephisis much faster, so stick with it. Or even use 1 Cost Echo skill, such asElectro Predator.

For Yinlin, an Electro set is highly desired. Yinlin herself deals a lot of damage, and Electro Set gives a whole40%DMG bonus. Damage bonus even on sub dps, is much more impactful than22.5% ATKto main dps only from Energy Set. That’s especially true for Yinlin who doesn’t need massive Energy Recharge to use Resonance Liberation every rotation. So I’d stick with Electro Set for Yinlin in most cases.

Teams in Wuthering Waves consist of three characters, and to build Yinlin right, we have to pair two suitable companions. Yinlin is a sub-dps, and Electro and Resonance Liberation buffer (To the next character). So she leans more towards teams with Electro and/or Resonance Liberation main DPS.

Yinlin also is AOE based sub-dps, so she may support the main DPS who focuses only on a single target. This increases their viability against content that has Elite enemies with some additional normal enemies.

Yinlin can also solo Illusion Realm with “Flame Rider” Path. She hit enemies so many times per second, and proc all Flame Meteor abilities.

Also, Yinline teams are very useful against hologram bosses, the hardest content in the game right now. These bosses are aggressive and deal insane damage, so players are stuck with dodging and parrying most of the fight. Yinlin provides damage from off-field on a 1-second cooldown, so she gives more room to dodge and still deal damage.

The best pair with Yinlin isCalcharo, as he’s both, an Electro and Resonance Liberation damage dealer. Yinlin Outro buff gives him everything he needs to deal more damage, and her AOE field DPS complements his single target DPS. Though Calcharo suffers the uptime of his Resonance Liberation without Yangyang, the DPS difference with Yinlin allows Calcharo to even build Energy Recharge without losing total damage.

Aside from him, Yinlin fits withHavoc Rover, especially in Burst playstyle. Havoc Rover can focus on their Resonance Liberation, and Yinlin provide them with the damage bonus. She also can alternate with them on the field, making constant switching playstyle to cast Resonance and Echo Skills of both on cooldown.

Encoreis another option that highly benefits from Yinlin’s ability to do damage while Encore does her switches.Encorerelies on a sub-DPS to do more damage, while she charge her long animation attacks (Resonance Skill and Charged Attack). Yinlin can easily fill this role for her, though Yinlin is not the only character who does that.

Finally,Yuanwuis another Electro DPS, who can do fine if you don’t have Calcharo. His damage is lower, but with Yinlin his potential goes up. Yinlin has a nice synergy with him.

There are two straight up healers in Wuthering Waves suitable for Yinlin’s team, Baizhi and Verina. However, there’s a third character that has great synergy. That’s Jianxin, who also buffs the next character’s Resonance Liberation damage.

Note you can’t buff the same character with the two buffs, because the first buff would go away upon switching. So in the case of Jianxin and Yinlin, you would pass Jianxin buff to Yinlin. the pass Yinlin buff to the main DPS. This increases Yinlin’s own DPS but doesn’t increase the main DPS damage (Unlike Verina who buffs the entire team).

In Tower of Adversity, you would be forced to useVerinain only one team, so you have to cope with other options in other teams.

Yinlin is a limited character, so you can’t get her without willingly wishing for her. This puts players to decide which limited character is more valuable to them than others. In the case ofYinlin, her main niche and top team is playing support forCalcharo. So if you playCalcharomain, she’s an ideal pick.

However, if you don’t intend to acquire or playCalcharo,Yinlinis an optional pick. She might be the top sub-dps at version 1.0, but she will not stay the sole character in this position beyond that. Almost at every new patch, there will be a character that plays sub-dps, with different niches. For example in 1.1, upcoming Changli will be best in slot with Encore. And in the future, when Havoc sub-DPS comes out, it will pair best withHavoc Rover. So keep this in mind while choosing to pick Yinlin or not.

It’s also worth noting that Yinlin’s signature weapon (From the limited weapon banner) is not worth pulling for free-to-play players and low-spending players. The reason is, that the impact on team dps is much lower if you upgrade your sub-dps weapon compared to upgrading the main dps weapon.

The same logic applies to Yinlin dupes (Sequences). Pulling more copies of Yinlin doesn’t help team damage so much. So save your hard-earned currency for more impactful characters or weapons.
