Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Caps off Season Pass with the Final DLC
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 ends its Season Pass DLC with “Future Redeemed”. This chapter is actually a prequel to the RPG.
Nintendo and developers Monolith just announced that Xenoblade Chronicles’ final DLC, Future Redeemed will release on April 25th. This is the 4th DLC for the RPG and can only be purchased via the game’s Season Pass on the E-Shop. The add-on can only be bought digitally; no physical editions are planned just yet.
But what kind of adventures can we expect to experience in something called “Future Redeemed”? Apparently a lot, as this will actually be a prequel to Xenoblade Chronicle 3’s main story.
The Future Redeemed addon will have players take the mantles of new characters to the game. In fact, you will even be joined by some familiar faces from previous installments. The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC will even connect all three mainline games in some way. It seems that one would be best to prepare by getting re-acquainted with the game’s massive lore.
Based on trailer footage, we’ll be playing primarily as a new character named Matthew. It looks like Matthew is good at punching things. Then we have Nikol, a young man that makes use of a robotic exoskeleton to do the heavy lifting in combat. We also get to see Shulk from the first game, who mostly sulks in a corner. Then there’s Glimmer, a redhead, and Rex who likes our attitude. The other character is a mysterious person only known as “A”.
We do not know how much playtime will be in this new installment. However, we do confirm that there will be “new battle mechanics” being added into the game. Apparently, something called a “Unity Combo” will allow two characters to simultaneously perform a combo attack. Considering that the game has a huge emphasis onrelationships and the Ouroboros System, we can expect this to play heavily into the narrative.
We got to see a more substantial content drop come October, with Wave 2. This time we got an entirely new Challenge Battle Mode that unlocked helpful items for use later on. Players also got access to a new hero character named Ino, as well as swimsuit cosmetics.
The most recent Wave 3 was released on February 15 this year which we first saw in that month’sNintendo Direct. This introduced the mode “Archsage’s Gauntlet” which has you control only a singular character and try to survive as long as possible. We also got Masha, a new hero, as well as “Throwback” cosmetics that are highly reminiscent of previous games.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 takes place in the fantasy world ofAionos. It followed the story of two mighty nations, Keves and Agnus. These superpowers have been in a decades-long conflict in order to prolong the lives of their respective leaders. People are bred and raised to be mere cogs in the machine of eternal war.
Players control a party of 6, with 3 different characters from each side. They are unknowingly set on a path to find out that life as they know it isn’t quite what it seems. They are thus given a huge open world to explore, filled with many friends and foes alike.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 consists of heart-pounding real-time combat. It is also quite flexible since players can swap between any of their party members at any given time. Characters’ classes can also be swapped around, creating a group that you can truly call your own. There are three Archetypes: Attackers, Heavy Guard, and Healers. Each of these has two subclasses that offer different specialties.
It was released less than a year ago, on July 29th for the usual $59.99. The game’s expansion pass retails for $29.99. Future Redeemed as well as all of the Season Pass’ DLC are only available digitally as well.
