With the rumoredaddition of Youtube Streams to PS4 with Firmware 3.0, it seems like Google has its ducks in a row to attempt to take on the Amazon’s giant, Twitch.tv Of course this is not an easy task, but it is an interesting development after Google failed to close the deal on Twitch a few months back.

The interface is pretty sleek. I like that they have gone with dark colors. I think the internet is about ready to return to dark color schemes, that for some reason became taboo.
Now to wait and see how Polaris, Husky, TB, Dodger, Markiplier Jesse Cox, Jim Sterling, and other such gaming youtubers do. Which side will they choose?
Seems interesting but, I feel like Youtube might become a cluster of streams that I am not interested like the fact that Youtube seems sure that shoving a trailer for Frozen is still a good advertising ploy whenever I come to their homepage or maybe I’d like this new shiny car I can’t afford. Like that except I imagine it with streams.
…or maybe I am just being paranoid.

Took them quite a while to create a competing domain. I’ve waiting for this to happen and I expected Google to hop onto the train faster than they did.
I’ve had this running in the background while I’ve been doing work, both the desktop and Android app versions and as far as interfaces go it’s pretty solid. It’s a little confusing sorting between live and recorded content but everything is pretty responsive overall. The integration with YouTube is pretty nice to have, once they improve the UI with clearly delineating the content it will be that much better.
As a YouTube gamer myself, I’m largely underwhelmed by it. I’ll be keen To see how they develop the platform though.
I’d also like to see how they help the little guys like me grow. So far it’s only focussed on the big hitters
I’m interested in trying it out, if Firmware 3.0 does bring stream-to-youtube capabilities, it could make our wiki events much easier to manage as we would not have to use two separate services.
Of course only time will tell
Very interesting. Competition is normally good, tends to lead to innovation. Excited to see what it looks like and what it does to differentiate itself from Twitch.
Hardly surprising. What Google can’t assimilate, it replicates. Or at least attempts to, in any case.
