Zenless Zone Zero Is HoYoVerse’s Next Fantasy Action RPG
Zenless Zone Zero has recently made headlines once more although not as loud as Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail, which HoYoVerse has also developed. Last November 27, the game’s Equalizing Test or secondClosed Betaconcluded over a 3-day period.
In this article, we will go through everything we know about the upcoming fantasy action RPG,Zenless Zone Zero!
It succeeds at doing so and pushes the boundaries of what the company has been known for. The game’s marketing in particular is spot-on, with flashy animations, catchy music, and enthralling pacing.
One of the newer characters inZenless Zone Zero, Billy Kid, was introduced last week. He is a cyborg member of the Gentle House AKA Cunning Hares and is known to have a carefree and chill personality. In the “It’s Showtime!” trailer, you can see Billy taking his sweet time in preparing for an important mission. As a dual pistol wielder or Gunslinger, he excels in midrangecombatas well as moving with grace and speed.
Because of his expertise, he is able to manipulate the battlefield to his advantage, often blitzing left and right to best his enemies.
Additionally, this quick movement style allows him to evade targets seamlessly, making it a nightmare to fight against him.
Zenless Zone Zero is a fantasy action RPG that takes place in New Eridu. Here, you play as a ‘Proxy’ with the goal of helping people live their lives despite contending with the Hollows. The Hollows is a disastrous event, which creates a tear in the fabric of the universe. This serves as a portal for dangerous creatures like the Ethereal to enter the human world and bring destruction wherever they go.
Thankfully, a band of survivors, who also go by the name of New Eridu (yes, confusing isn’t it), is fighting back. As you progress in the game, you meet others like you, who despite having different, colorful personalities, are open to teaming up and defending the world against the Ethereal. With your skills and combos, who would dare fight against you?
So far, there are 4 factions in Zenless Zone Zero such as the Gentle House AKA Cunning Hares whom you can hire for a price; Section 6, an armed force special operation who have dedicated their lives to obliterating every evil force in the world; Belobog (hello Honkai throwback) Heavy Industries is comprised of engineers and mechanical workers who are not only Hollow investigators but also passionate about utilizing heavy machinery to defeat the Ethereal; and Victoria Housekeeping Co. has some of the most unique characters because of what they do. They are domestic helpers with a wide variety of services to offer. But no other details as to what these services are have been mentioned just yet.
It is worth noting that all characters who are members of these 4 factions are playable and recruitable as the player progresses further into the game. There are other side factions you will encounter along the way but there is no confirmation whether or not you can recruit their members as well.
When it comes to the flashy and fast-paced gameplay, Zenless Zone Zero has different activities to fill up your time. Roaming around the city has been made easier because you can now drive in a car instead of running around like in Honkai: Star Rail.
Now if you want some pick-me-up before every encounter like in Monster Hunter, you can order delicious noodles from General Chop. Similar to Genshin Impact, the food looks incredibly sumptuous and tasty plus, you gain significant buffs such as additional HP and damage.
Of course, what’s an RPG without minigames in them, right? In Zenless Zone Zero, you can engage in multiple arcades if you simply want to unwind for the day. In a recently released gameplay video, you gain access to games like Snake Duel and Soul Hounds III.
Snake Duel is very reminiscent of the Snake game on Nokia phones in the 90s. You basically play as a snake to collect diamonds while trying to eat your fellow snakes. However, if they devour your first, it is game over! Meanwhile, Soul Hounds III will have you vacuum your way through a descending platform as you avoid the falling blocks that will crush you.
